See differently, see more

In this lesson you will hear from others what they think about your qualities and pitfalls.

To achieve a good result, follow these steps:

Step 1: First write down what you think your qualities are (what you are good at) and what your pitfalls are (what you can improve yourself in). Use your Personal Mastery diary for this.

Step 2: Then work in groups of 4-5 pupils/students, each time focusing on someone else. For each person, write down his or her name on a separate sheet of paper and below that his or her qualities/pitfalls. Indicate why you think this, if possible with concrete examples from practice. Put your own name on this paper so that the person it is about can ask some questions if necessary.

Step 3: Get started with these (new?) insights. Compare the results with the qualities/pitfalls you described yourself. What matches? Where are the differences? What do I learn from this?

Step 4: Write down again what you think your qualities are (what you are good at) and what your pitfalls are (what you can improve on).

Step 5: Share your results/insights/learning process with the others in your group.

Learning objectives

The learning objective of this lesson is threefold.

  1. First, become aware of your qualities and pitfalls, as seen by yourself.
  2. Secondly, respectfully expressing the qualities/pitfalls of friends/girlfriends/classmates.
  3. Thirdly, being able to share your insights with and towards each other with respect.

Program (4 lessons)

The program of this lesson covers a total of 4 lessons.

  • In the first hour you will start describing your own qualities/pitfalls.
  • In the second hour, each group of 4-5 pupils/students will work on putting words to the qualities/pitfalls of everyone in the group.
  • In the third hour you do self-reflection. All (new) insights are processed in a new description of your own qualities/pitfalls. If desired, you go to a teammate if you have questions about what he or she has written.
  • In the fourth hour you share the insights/experiences with each other. The lesson is concluded with an evaluation/reflection based on the set learning goals. Everything is described in the personal mastery diary.
